COLOMBO – The Institute of Digital Media and Journalism (IDMJ), in collaboration with the Zahira College Group of 80 (G80), organised a media workshop recently for students of Zahira College Colombo on Thursday August 20 focusing on Photography and Storytelling.
The workshop was held at the Zahira College Swimming Pool Complex Auditorium, providing students with an opportunity to gain practical knowledge and insights into photography, storytelling, and media communication.
The resource persons for the programme were Irfan Nasoordeen, BA (Hons) in Language, Literature and Humanities – IIUI, Pakistan, MA in Human Resource Development and Corporate Human Resources and Development Consultant, and Marshad Baari, Secretary Colombo University Journalism Association and Deputy Director – Orphans Care, Amana Bank.
The Chief Guest at the event was Vijay Kumar Raut, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Nepal, who attended the programme and engaged with the participants.
The Vice Principal of Zahira College Colombo, Mrs. Zeenath Ismail, also participated in the prize-giving ceremony.
Representing IDMJ Umair Nawshad, Executive Director, and Zamil Shafeek, Administrative Director, were present at the event.
The G80 officials was represented by President T. Hadjireen Rasiff, the General Secretary Naleef Kitchil, Treasurer Nusrath Ramiz, Project Chairman and Vice President Aslam Kamil, along with other members of the organising committee.
Zahira College Head of the Co Curricular Activities Mrs. Shinaz Badurdeen and Razmi Rafeek, Advisor to IDMJ, were also present.
Fawzil Abdul Rahuman, a member of the National Youth Service Council Youth Federation, also participated in the workshop.
The programme brought together educators, media professionals, youth representatives, and students, creating a valuable platform for young participants to develop their understanding of visual storytelling and the role of media in modern communication.

IDMJ presented tokens of appreciation to the chief guest and others.
