KANDY :The Kandy Katukelle Jumma Mosque recently hosted a blood donation camp right inside its sacred premises.0
The event, organized under the leadership of the President of the Katukelle Jumma Mosque, Afzal Marikkar, alongside the dedicated Board of Trustees, was held in close collaboration with the MYSK Muslim Youth Society of Katukelle.
What made this event truly historic was its venue and its crowd. For the first time in the history of Kandy city, a blood donation drive of this scale was conducted inside the main hall of a mosque. Breaking traditional barriers, the gates of the mosque were thrown open to all, drawing an overwhelming response from the local public.
The camp saw active participation not just from the Muslim community, but from devotees of other faiths, including Buddhists, Christians, and Hindus. Donors from all walks of life stood side-by-side, united by the singular, life saving cause of donating blood.
The resounding success of this blood donation camp marks a defining moment for the Katukelle community and Kandy at large. The enthusiastic participation of neighbors from all faiths serves as a powerful reminder that when a community unites for the common good, shared humanity will always transcend religious boundaries.
