Implemented by the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government, the bridge will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 9.3 million under the Sustainable Small Bridges Development Project 2026.
The Government has planned to construct 881 priority bridges over four years. As the first phase, 100 bridges will be built in 2026 with an investment of Rs. 1.05 billion, based on development priorities identified by local authorities.
Addressing the event, Deputy Minister Gunasekara said the programme aims to improve transport connectivity, reduce flooding, strengthen links between communities, and enhance the livelihoods of both urban and rural populations. He also emphasized the Government’s commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in the implementation of public development projects.
