A one-day marketing and awareness programme aimed at promoting the use of traditional palmyrah-based products was conducted in the Kinniya Urban Division on Sunday (01), under the auspices of Muslim Aid Sri Lanka.
The programme primarily focused on raising public awareness about the quality, uniqueness, diverse applications and significance of products made from palmyrah leaves, while highlighting their potential as environmentally friendly alternatives.
As part of the initiative, informational leaflets highlighting the key features and benefits of palmyrah-based products were prepared and distributed among the public in various parts of Kinniya town.
During the campaign, members of the public were educated on the quality and distinctive characteristics of these traditional products, their wide range of uses and the importance of choosing environmentally sustainable alternatives.
The initiative also sought to preserve traditional handicrafts, strengthen market opportunities for local palmyrah producers and encourage greater public acceptance and use of palmyrah-based products.
The programme marks an effort to promote traditional craftsmanship while creating greater market awareness and demand for locally produced, eco-friendly palmyrah products.
