




COLOMBO : Zam Zam Foundation, reputed social services organisation which is well known for its charitable activities in the island, hosted dozens of journalists to its new ‘ the Green Community Experience Centre’ at the Inaya Gardens Complex in the hill capital of Kandy on Sunday, July 14.
The center is located in the Inaya Gardens which is named after the mother of Hassan Rauf, general manager of Dallah Taiba Hotel in Madinah , who had set up the building as a monument for his living parents. Hassan’s father is Rauf Hajiar who is also a philanthropist in his own way.
The journalists’ visit was organized to provide these media persons with an in-depth understanding of Zam Zam Foundation’s activities, mission, and impact on the community.
To the delight of the journos, president and founder of the Zam Zam Foundation As Sheikh Yusuf Mufthi delivered the welcome address at the opening session chaired by Insaf Salahudeen who heads the media unit of the foundation.
The Mufthi stressed the predominant role played by the journalists in a developing society and told them their responsibilities k and obligations towards building a better nation in mother Lanka.
The Chief Executive Officer of the foundation,Mohammed Hisham outlined the ways and means of maintaining a fruitful coordination between the foundation and the media. He pointed out that the foundation which has its headquarters in Colombo could organize various programmes for journalists to improve their skills to become better professionals to serve the nation.
During this Familiarization Tour, the journos were given a comprehensive overview of Zam Zam Foundation’s various programs and initiatives. The visiting journalists had an interactive Q&A session as well as a group discussion on potential avenues to support young journalists through institutional partnerships in future.
This tour not only enhanced the journalists’ understanding of the foundation’s work but also fostered a collaborative spirit among the participants.
The journalists group which had some 25 percent women was amazed with the hospitality showered by the Zam Zam officials and they were not only provided with breakfast and sumptuous lunch but also they were given beautiful gifts to take home.
