

COLOMBO – Zahira College Colombo recently organised its Founder’s Day ceremony at the College Gaffoor Hall under the patronage of the College Principal Triizviy Marikkar.
The Founders Day Oration was delivered via zoom by guest speaker distinguished old boy of Zahira College Dr. A.R.M. Imtiyaz Phd Affiliated Scholar, Penn Arts and Sciences South Asian Centre University of Pennsylvania USA on ” Impact of AI in the Modern Classroom : A new learning- Teaching Approach from an Academic Point of View “.
Principal of the College Trizvi Marikkar delivered the welcome address.
Zahira College, Colombo was founded in 1892 as Al Madrasathul Zahira by two of the most prominent Sri Lankan Muslims of the day, I.L.M. Abdul Aziz and Arasi Marikar Wapchie Marikar, with the active patronage of Ahmed Orabi Pasha of Egypt.
The College which has been in existence for over 133 years is a well-established and a renowned school in Sri Lanka. Spread over an 11-acre block of land in Maradana in the heart of Colombo, it has over the years been endowed with a number of buildings to house its infrastructure, a competition size playground, swimming pool, dental clinic, hostel, canteen, bookshop and student counselling room. Practically all the buildings are well equipped with up-to-date furniture and fittings
Deputy Principal M.M. Shazuli, Vice Principals A.M. Mihilar, M.T.M. Ilhum, Ms. Zeenath Ismail and Head of Primary Hasna Iflal along with Members of Board of Governors, Old Boys, Teachers, and Students were also present.
Principal of the College Trizvi Marikkar presented a token of appreciation to the guest speaker Dr. A.R.M. Imtiyaz and it was collected by Vice Principal A.M. Mihilar.
