COLOMBO — Jamiul Ashroff Jumma Mosque, Colombo inaugurated Ramadan Cultural Festival on Monday March 17. to illuminate the Mosque and its environs in keeping with the instructions of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to mark the holy the month of Ramadan with the spirit of love and compassion.
Salam Ramadan which is to take place from 21 to 31 March at Green Path, Colombo.
The Western Province Governor Hanif Yoosuf switched on the lighting of the special decorations at the Mosque on Monday March 17.
Welcoming the Western Province Governor the Secretary of the Mosque Fouzul Aleem Farook thanked the Western Province Governor for implementing President Anura Kumara Dissanayke’s vision to create a peaceful atmosphere where people of all communities can live together. He also thanked the Western Province Governor’s presence to inaugurate Salam Ramadan as initiated by the President.
Speaking on the occasion, the Western Province Governor said Jamiul Ashroff Mosque at Belmont Street is the first Mosque to respond to the call of the President to celebrate Salam Ramadan.
He said the President is keen to see all Communities live together and know the cultural activities of the Moors, Malays, Memons and Bohra Community Members.
H.R. Janaza Foundation also participated in this event.
Assistant Secretary M. Hisham, Treasurer M.L.M.Fairouze, Assistant Treasurer Zuhar Sheriff, H.R. Janaza Foundation President Hussain Rashard and members were present.
