MOHAMMED ZAHRAN
COLOMBO : Despite the tireless global efforts—massive protests across continents, (and in Sri Lanka by the FPM – Free Palestine Movement in particular) widespread boycotts of Israeli goods, dedicated days of saum (fasting), relentless salah ( prayers) and heartfelt dua (supplications), and continued exposure of atrocities through print , electronic and social media and legal appeals to international bodies like the ICC and ICJ—the genocide against the Palestinian people by Israel continues unabated.
These collective acts of resistance, though morally powerful and symbolically significant, have sadly failed to yield tangible results in halting the bloodshed. The brutal oppression, systemic displacement, and dehumanisation persist, mocking international law and basic human decency.
In light of this tragic reality, I make an earnest appeal to the intellectuals, strategists, and leaders of pro-Palestinian nations and communities: it is time to unite and brainstorm a new, decisive modus operandi—one rooted in justice, courage, and effectiveness. We must urgently explore and implement an alternative strategy, because what we’ve done so far, though noble, has not been enough or not effective.
This is a call for moral responsibility and transformative action. The world cannot afford to stay passive while a nation is systematically erased.
Let us not allow history to record our silence or inaction. Let us find a path to end this genocide—before it’s too late.
