COLOMBO — St. Sebastian Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya Welfare Association organized a Parent Motivation Programme at the school hall on Wednesday, July 29, under the patronage of Principal Mrs. Raihana Vaffa.
Addressing the gathering, Keselwatte Police Women and Children’s Unit Head, Hiruni Ranaweera, emphasized the vital role of parents in shaping their children’s future. She spoke about the behaviour of children in the Keselwatte and Aluthkade areas and stressed that parents must take greater care and responsibility in ensuring their children attend school regularly. She also noted that parents should play as positive role models for their children.
Motivational speaker Ash Sheikh U.K. Ramees highlighted the importance of education and parental involvement in school development. He urged parents to work closely with the principal and teachers to strengthen the school. Referring to the Holy Quran, he noted that its first revealed verses emphasize the importance of reading and education. He encouraged parents to motivate their children to pursue education, become responsible citizens, and cooperate with the police in the fight against drug abuse.

The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Association Secretary M.S.M. Fahim.
