NEGOMBO: Teachers’ Day turned out to be a day of mass demonstration on Wednesday,October 6. demanding for increased wages.
Principals also joined the Teachers in regaining their lost salary perks from the government. The demonstrations took place in all major cities in the island including the coastal town of Negombo.
Colombo Times camera caught the demonstration in Negombo opposite the Maris Stella College in the town.
Meanwhile,the day was filled with the exchange of greetings and good wishes between students and teachers throughout the island.
In a different tune, the management of a private school, Ilma International School, had sent gifts of sweets to all its teachers in appreciation of their services.
