COLOMBO : The Supreme Court has determined that the decision of Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) to expel Minister Naseer Ahamed from the party was valid and lawful.
The Environment Minister had filed a petition before the Supreme Court challenging the SLMC’s decision to suspend his party membership.
After taking the petition into consideration, the Supreme Court three-member bench delivered its determination this Friday morning and upheld the SLMC’s decision.
Consequent upon the court verdict, the SLMC executive committee is busy nominating its Vice President Seyed Ali Zahir Mowlana to fill the vacancy created by Ahamed in the parliament following the court verdict.
