
RIYADH : As a part of the Embassy initiative to recognize long-served Sri Lankan migrant workers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Saudi Arabia, Ameer Ajwad felicitated P. V. Charitha Devaka Perera of Almarai multinational dairy company in the Kingdom.
Speaking during the occasion, Ambassador Ameer Ajwad stated that Sri Lankan migrant workers in Saudi Arabia are one of the important components of the bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia and that they make significant contributions in different fields to the development of the host country as well as to the economy of the home country by sending their remittances. Ambassador Ameer Ajwad also took the opportunity to extend his sincere appreciation and gratitude to the management of Saudi Almarai Company which has employed more than seven thousand Sri Lankan migrant workers, for its trust and confidence that the company has reposed in the Sri Lankan manpower.
Charitha Perera has served as the Financial Controller at the Almarai Company, contributing significantly to the company’s financial management and operational excellence. Perera has been an integral part of the Sri Lankan migrant worker community in the Kingdom, symbolizing the dedication and professionalism of Sri Lankan expatriates.
Ambassador Ameer Ajwad presented a memento to Perera in recognition of his longstanding services and representing the spirit of Sri Lankan excellence in the Kingdom.
The ceremony forms part of the Embassy’s ongoing tradition, launched in July 2024, to recognize senior Sri Lankan migrant workers who have rendered exceptional services to both home and host countries over the decades. Since then, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Riyadh has thus far felicitated four senior Sri Lankan migrant workers of different professions.
Minister/ Head of Chancery, Mr Mohamed Anas, Counsellor/Employment & Welfare, Mr. Mangala Randeniya, First Secretary/Consular, Mr Vindana Munasingha, First Secretary Trade/ Ms Tashma Vithanawasam, and Third Secretary/ Employment & Welfare, Mr Sandun Nishantha of Sri Lanka Embassy in Riyadh participated in the felicitation event.
Khaleelurahman, Key Account Manager, Sivasankar Thirunawakkarasu, Divisional Finance Manager and Eng. Nihamathullah Khaleelurahman of Almarai Company also participated during the event.
