ARKAM NOORAMITH
COLOMBO : As human beings, we have a moral responsibility to stand against injustice wherever it occurs. The suffering of innocent people in Palestine, Sudan, and many other regions demands our attention, our voices, and our action. To remain silent is to turn our backs on our shared humanity.
We cannot ignore:
• The violence at places of worship, where people seeking peace and prayer face restrictions and harm.
• The targeting of hospitals, schools, and refugee camps, where civilians, including children, suffer immense loss.
• The blockades and humanitarian crises, depriving entire populations of food, water, and medical care.
• The devastating conflict in Sudan, where millions have been displaced, communities have been torn apart, and famine threatens innocent lives.
• The ongoing struggles of marginalized people worldwide, from the displaced Rohingya in Myanmar to those facing conflict and hardship in Yemen, Congo, and beyond.
• The urgent need for global accountability, ensuring that humanitarian principles and international laws are upheld to protect the rights and dignity of all people.
This is not about politics—it is about human rights.
The people affected by these crises are not statistics; they are families, students, doctors, and elders who deserve safety, dignity, and a future free from violence and fear.
While I may not hold political power, I have a voice, and I choose to use it:
• I will advocate for peace, justice, and humanitarian support for those in need.
• I will support ethical choices, standing with organizations and initiatives that promote human rights.
• I will stand in solidarity with those seeking freedom, dignity, and security—not just in words, but through action.
If you are reading this, you, too, have a choice:
• Will you stand for justice and humanity?
• Or will you allow silence, fear, or indifference to prevail?
Every action, no matter how small, makes a difference. Speak. Act. Stand for what is right.
