A farewell and service appreciation event for the retired director of Rupavahini Nethra TV Muslim Unit Alhaj M.K.M. Yoonus and producer Alhaj Mafahir Mashoor Moulana was recently organized by the Sri Lanka Islamic Arts and Literary Foundation. The event was chaired by Thamil Thendral Ali Akbar, president of the Foundation.
The ceremony took place at the Vasantham Hall (Spring Hall) of Manjal Unavagam at Armour Street, Colombo, along with a dinner reception. Several poets who participated in the Nethra Kaviyarangam (poetry session) joined the event.
The program commenced with the Qira’ath recitation by Dhildar Fatheen. Speeches highlighting the achievements of M.K.M. Yoonus, and Mafahir Mashoor Moulana were delivered by Thamil Thendral Ali Akbar, Nethra TV producer Mubarak Mohideen, Marsoom Moulana, Attorney-at-law, Rifai Haji and Siddeque Akbar.
Poets N. Najmul Hussain and M.S. Abdul Latiff recited congratulatory poems, while Dhilkas Dhaneen Mubarak performed a song. The joint secretary M.S.M. Jinnah compiled the program.
The retired dignitaries were honored with golden shawls, garlands, and awards by Kayal Shekhna Lebbai, Rafeek Buhari, Hassan Mubarak, Ahamed Mohideen and Keelakkarai Philonthropist Rifai Haji. Both the dignitaries delivered vote of thanks.
