The defending under 20 school soccer champions, Alighar Central College of Eravur under the splendid captaincy of Mohamed Munsif have stolen the limelight to get themselves to be conspicuously seen in action against the mighty Zahira College, Colombo in the Under Twenty Schools Football Championship to be worked off at Racecourse Stadium in Colombo on 27.02.2025. It will start at 06:45 p.m. Today’s Superb Soccer Show is indeed the repeat of the final of 2023 where Alighar had the last laugh. Can the Soccer Kings of Alighar coached by Mr. Aspahan from the Eastern Province who will lock horns with the mighty and unbeaten Zahirians, beard their arch rivals? Interestingly, they truly showed their might and superiority against Hameed Al Husseinie College, Colombo in the first semi-final played at Colombo City League Football Complex on 25th February 2025. The skipper of Alighar Mohamed Munsif rose to the occasion to make a stunning free kick to get the solitary goal for the winners. Hameedians who gave a brave fight could not make any goals as the defence of their rivals securely closed the gates of giving any goals.
​In the 2nd semi-final, the gallant Zahira secured victory from the jaws of defeat as St. Joseph’s College miserably failed to win the penalty shoot-out. The 63rd minute goal by V. Harish went in vain as Zahira bounced back getting the equalizer in the 86th minute through the boots of Mohammed Shuhaib. After the game went into penalty shoot-out, Mufazzal Ziard, Abdul Azeez, Fareeq Ahamed and Mohamed Shail of Zahira converted the goals from the spot while only Captain Mark Andrew and S.N. Saldeen were successful for the Josephians.
​For the third place, Hameed Al Husseinie College will clash with St. Joseph’s College at City League Football Complex on 27th Feb. 2025. This match is scheduled to start at 03:15 p.m.
