In an ECG, The Q Wave precedes the ventricular systole in the cardiac cycle. In other words, Q Wave signals the contraction of the heart in its beat. Among healthcare professionals of Sri Lanka, this is also the name of the first-ever lifestyle magazine made exclusively for doctors.
The first of its kind in South Asia, Q Wave magazine serves as a platform for doctors to share with doctors. The magazine allows doctors to explore customized content made compatible to their daily needs.
In the recurrent segment “Insights,” the magazine provides exclusive interviews with veterans of the profession. Pioneers such as Vidya Jyothi Prof. Rezvi Sheriff, President of the College of Surgeons Prof Srinath Chandrasekara, and President of the Sri Lanka Medical Council Professor Vidya Jyothi Vajira H. W. Dissanayake are among the doctors whose thoughts have been inscribed in the magazine’s pages.
The journal also features inspirational anecdotes such as those of Dr Lasantha Malavige, Chairman of Lassana Flora, and Dr Samitha Samanmalee, Paralympic Bronze Medalist.
In addition to the stories of trailblazers, the magazine also provides tailor made lifestyle content to ease the life of their readership. “Dress to Impress” guides you through wardrobe essentials with its dos and don’ts, G.I.T provides easy flexible meals for the doc on the move, and “Move It Doc!” simplifies tactics for staying active in a busy schedule. “Tech Sec” provides you with the technical know-how that’ll help simplify doctor’s daily encounters with technology. “Recommended Reads” and “ MedFlix : Movie Guide for Docs” are among the sought-after segments.
A free copy of Q Wave is delivered to its doctors who subscribe on the website www.qwave.lk, where you can select between receiving a print copy right to your doorstep or a digital copy through email.
Q Wave envisions re-inventing the brand of the Sri Lankan doctor to encompass the values of professionalism, integrity, and trust. Together with the mission of promoting a holistic lifestyle for doctors to ensure that they reflect the standards the profession holds them to, Q Wave Magazine is on its way to make a mark.
