COLOMBO : Parliament member Mujibur Rahman has filed a formal letter on Tuesday, October 2, requesting information from the Attorney General’s Department under the Right to Information Act.
In his request, Rahman has asked for the list of court cases withdrawn by the Attorney General’s Department since Nov.19 2019. Further, the legislator has requested detailed information of the indictments filed by the AGs department in these cases from 19th November and how many have been withdrawn up-to-date.
Speaking to media after filing the request, Rahman that he understands some 20 indictments have been withdrawn from the specified date. It is alleged that some cases were of government supporters who are currently in service as parliamentarians and businessman.
