COLOMBO: Mohan Pandithage, Chairman and Chief Executive of Hayleys PLC was the recipient of the unique honor of being inducted into the Sri Lanka Aviation Hall of Fame 2023 at the IAAC Graduation 2023, held at the BMICH on 18th July 2023.
Pandithage was inducted into the Hall of fame in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the nation’s aviation and shipping industry.
An alumnus of Ananda College Colombo, Mr. Pandithage is without doubt, one of Sri Lanka’s most notable and well-known corporate figures.
He has contributed immensely to public policy development and in attracting foreign direct investments to Sri Lanka. Further, his managerial expertise has been sought by the public sector for the implementation of large infrastructure projects.

Consultancy Services Ltd. He is a former Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Ceylon Association of Ships’ Agents, and presently serves on its Advisory Committee. Mr. Pandithage was adjudged the Best Shipping Personality in 2004 by the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, Sri Lanka. In addition, he serves as a Board Director at Diesel & Motor Engineering Co. PLC
During his long and storied career, Mr. Pandihage has served as a Board Director of Sri Lanka
Ports Authority, Jaya Container Terminals Ltd and is currently a Director of Sri Lanka Port
Management Consultancy Services Ltd. He is a former Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Ceylon Association of Ships’ Agents, and presently serves on its Advisory Committee. Mr. Pandithage was adjudged the Best Shipping Personality in 2004 by the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, Sri Lanka. In addition, he serves as a Board Director at Diesel & Motor Engineering Co. PLC.
Most recently Mr. Pandithage was appointed as the Honorary Consul of United Mexican States (Mexico) to Sri Lanka effective 13th September 2011. This appointment was announced by then President of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, His Excellency Mahinda Rajapaksa, and the Minister of External Affairs at the time, Professor G. L. Peiris.
An Anandian who lived up to the very spirit of the college ethos, Mr. Pandithage, has not only made an impression on the Aviation and Shipping industry of Sri Lanka, He is also a true legend the country’s corporate sphere, and inspiration to all, including his beloved wife Rohinie, his son Prishan, and his daughter Sheahara.

Today the IAAC is proud to have set a benchmark in the Airline and Aviation industry related vocational training, by offering quality education, affordable and accessible to everyone, in Sri Lanka, even to the masses residing in rural outstation cities. The IAAC is also proud to be working toward IATA requirements in keeping with the IATA Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP) program. An initiative launched by IATA to address the anticipated shortage of skilled aviation professionals in the near future.
The IAAC awards council board for the Sri Lanka Aviation Hall of Fame is comprised of high-profile members of the Sri Lankan Aviation industry, with impeccable credentials, and a combined experience of more than 350 years.
Today, the organization is supported by numerous enthusiastic volunteers who seek to uphold and share the rich history of Sri Lankan Aviation preserved through the stories of its inducted members. The member profiles, artefacts, and exhibits contained herein represent just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the history of Sri Lanka Aviation.
These extraordinary individuals all made contributions to the advancement of aviation in Sri Lanka whether as Entrepreneurs, Pilots, Aeronautical Engineers, Doctors, Scientists, or Administrators.
