



COLOMBO : – On December 28, 2024, the Indonesian Warship (KRI) Sultan Iskandar Muda-367, which is part of the Indonesian Navy fleet, safely arrived at the Port of Colombo, Sri Lanka. This arrival was part of a long journey to Lebanon in support of Indonesia’s peacekeeping mission and international cooperation efforts. The ship is equipped with various modern facilities and trained personnel, ready to support operational activities in international waters, including in Lebanon.
KRI SIM-367, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel (Navy) Anugerah Annurullah, is berthed in Colombo for three days from December 28 to 30, 2024, to resupply logistics and fuel. KRI SIM-367 carries 120 soldiers who are part of the Maritime Task Force (MTF) Unit (TNI Konga XXVIII-P/UNIFIL TA 2024, United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon) tasked with securing Lebanon’s waters for the next year.
In this peacekeeping mission, KRI SIM-367 plays a strategic role in carrying out essential tasks such as Maritime Interdiction Operations (MIO) in the Area of Maritime Operations (AMO). The ship will conduct maritime surveillance, provide training to the Lebanese Armed Forces Navy (LAF-Navy), perform hailing of ships entering and exiting territorial waters, and conduct boarding and inspection of vessels suspected of carrying illegal weapons.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in Colombo, H.E. Dewi Gustina Tobing, accompanied by the Indonesian Defence Attaché to India and Sri Lanka, Admiral TNI Ardiansyah Muqsit, and staff from the Indonesian Embassy in Colombo, welcomed the arrival of KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda-367 at the Port of Colombo.
In her speech, the Indonesian Ambassador emphasized that it is the embassy’s duty to support the success of the peacekeeping mission carried out by KRI SIM-367 by facilitating the resupply process during the ship’s stopover in Colombo. The Ambassador also extended her best wishes to the Maritime Task Force (MTF) Konga XXVIII-M/UNIFIL for their mission.
During its stay in Colombo, KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda prepared logistic and routine maintenance to ensure the smooth continuation of its journey. Furthermore, the arrival of this ship also marks a moment to strengthen diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Sri Lanka, which continue to develop across various sectors, including defence and security. Ambassador Dewi expressed her gratitude to the Sri Lankan Navy for their assistance and facilitation of the ship’s needs during its stopover in Colombo.
KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda, designed to support various military and humanitarian operations, is prepared to carry out multinational tasks in Lebanon under the United Nations flag in maintaining peace and regional stability. The ship’s presence in Lebanon will focus on peacekeeping missions, which are part of Indonesia’s commitment to playing an active role in ensuring global security and stability.
KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda is a Landing Ship Tank (LST) type warship that is capable of transporting troops and military equipment, as well as providing logistical support in combat zones or disaster areas. The ship is also equipped with advanced communication and navigation equipment.
KRI SIM-367 departed from Colombo on December 30, 2024, at 12:00 local time, heading to its next stopover port in Salalah, Oman.
