COLOMBO — An Ifthar Gathering with civil society representatives, jointly organized by the Sri Lanka Jama’athe Islami (SLJI) and Ramya Lanka, was held on Tuesday, March 18, at the Darul Iman Auditorium in Colombo. The event was chaired by Ustaz M.H.M. Ussair Islahi, President of SLJI.
The General Secretary of SLJI, Attorney-at-Law M.S.M. Faris Saly, moderated a panel discussion on fostering a collaborative culture and sharing experiences. The discussion provided a platform for civil society representatives to exchange insights, with a strong emphasis on the urgent need for greater collaboration and cooperation among representatives and activists for the betterment of the country and its people
The discussion featured prominent panelists, including former Speaker of Parliament Karu Jayasuriya, Commissioner of Elections Saman Sri Ratnayake, National Peace Council Director Dr. Jehan Perera, Sarvodaya Movement Executive Director Dhamith Kulanayaka, Healthy Lanka Alliance for Development Director Chamika Jayasinghe, PAFFREL Executive Director Rohana Hettiarachchi , Executive Director of IRES Manjula Gajanayake and SLJI Ladies’ Wing Executive Committee member Dr. Naseeha Ameen. Concluding remarks were presented by National Shura Council President M. M..Zuhair PC.
The gathering was attended by religious leaders, representatives from civil society organizations, academics, media personnel, and social activists.
