COLOMBO : I would like to express my warm regards to the Turkish community and convey my best wishes to our friends, while congratulating everybody in Sri Lanka on the auspicious occasion of the Eid-al-Fitr.
Ramazan is a blessed month of fasting with divine reflection, devotion and gratitude. The fasting cleanses the soul, purifies our hearts and provides empathy for those in need.
In my first Ramazan in Colombo as the Turkish Ambassador accredited to Sri Lanka and Maldives, I had the pleasure to share many iftars with Muslims, who spent the holy month of Ramazan in prayer, reflection and service to their communities.
Ramazan is a month of sharing, patience and generosity with spirituality and simplicity. The soft whispers of the prayers and shared moments of bonding over iftar, creates a deep sense of unity.
Despite our happiness to receive the Eid-al-Fitr, unfortunately, some Muslims have spent the Holy Month of Ramazan in challenging circumstances in many areas around the world.
Ramazan is a gift for the broken, a healing for the wounded, a mercy upon the weak and an opportunity for everybody.
May Allah the Almighty accept our fasting, prayers and charity while wishing the Eid-al-Fitr would bring peace and happiness to all humanity.
