COLOMBO: The 81st Anniversary of the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia was celebrated at the Indonesian Embassy premises in Colombo on Thursday, August 20, under the patronage of Indonesian Ambassador Dewi Gustina Tobing.
Minister of Justice and National Integration Harshana Nanayakkara attended the ceremony as the chief guest.
Deputy Speaker of Parliament Rizvie Salih, Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources Ramalingam Chandrasekar, Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development Sunil Handunnetti, Deputy Minister of Mass Media Dr. Kaushalya Ariyarathne, ambassadors, commanders of the three Armed Forces, members of the business community, officials of the Sri Lanka-Indonesia Friendship Association, representatives of Muslim organisations, media personnel and embassy officials were among those present.
Ambassador Dewi Gustina Tobing and Chief Guest Minister Harshana Nanayakkara jointly cut the anniversary cake to mark the occasion.
The ceremony highlighted the longstanding friendship and close relations between Indonesia and Sri Lanka.
