The Cabinet of Ministers held a meeting at the Presidential Secretariat to address the recent decisions made by the Sports Minister regarding Sri Lanka Cricket. It was decided that a Cabinet subcommittee would be formed to look into the Gazette issued by the Sports Minister.
Reports reveal that President Ranil Wickremesinghe was not informed about the Gazette, which dissolved the existing Sri Lanka Cricket board and established an Interim Committee. This information came as a surprise during the Cabinet meeting, leading to discussions on the matter.
The meeting resulted in the decision to appoint a committee, composed of four Cabinet Ministers, to thoroughly investigate the future proceedings of Sri Lanka Cricket and the Gazette issued by the Sports Minister. The Cabinet subcommittee will be led by Foreign Minister Ali Sabry and includes Public Security Minister Tiran Alles, Labour and Foreign Employment Minister Manusha Nanayakkara, and Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekara.
