COLOMBO : The United Nations has issued a statement on Wednesday, Sept, 15, with regard to the ill treatment of prisoners in the country.
Citing the Mandela Rules, which underlines that provision of ethical health care for prisoners is a State responsibility, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Sri Lanka Hanaa Singer pointed out that the Unites Nations Sri Lanka is currently awork to strengthen capacities to uphold the rights of all those in custody.
