COLOMBO — The Zahira College Tech Society organized its third consecutive “Tech Day” at the College Abdul Ghaffoor Hall on Wednesday, May 20, under the patronage of the Principal, Trizviiy Marikkar.
The President of the Society, Thariq Rizvi, delivered the welcome address.
Head of the Department of the Technology Stream, Abbdul Azeez, recalled how the society was established despite facing various difficulties and highlighted the present progress of the Tech Society. He also invited other schools to join hands with Zahira College Technology in moving forward together.
The Chief Guest of the ceremony, Kumar Galheneage, Chief Consultant of Lyceum Global Holdings, stated that some countries have banned mobile phone usage for children under the age of 16. He also shared experiences from his school days and explained the rapid advancement of technology and artificial intelligence.
Guest Speaker Dr. Jagath Munasinghe, Professor of Town and Country Planning at the University of Moratuwa, spoke on the importance of technology and conducted a presentation for the students.
Certificates were distributed to the winners of the Quiz and Innovation competitions by the guests, while the Principal presented tokens of appreciation to the Chief Guest and Guest Speaker during the ceremony.
Head of Co-Curricular Activities, Ms. Shinaz Bathurdeen, also addressed the gathering and Students presented several performances during the event.
Master-in-Charge of the Tech Society, Hyder Hasmin, Vice Principals, teachers, students, and students from invited schools were also present at the occasion.
