COLOMBO : Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa will leave for the Maldives on Tuesday (12) to attend the 21st Asia Media Summit, which commenced on Monday , May (11) at Villa Nautica in the Maldives.
The summit will be held until May 14, with policymakers, media owners, media professionals and other delegates from Asian countries expected to take part.
In addition to representatives of the Maldivian government, the event will be attended by the Minister of Information and Broadcasting of Bangladesh, the Secretary General of BIMSTEC, the Secretary General of SAARC, the State Secretary for Social Communication of Timor-Leste, and several other senior figures from the media and communication sectors in Asia.
Dr Jayatissa is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the fourth session of the summit. He will focus on media policy, public information dissemination, media professionalism and the responsibility of communictors in serving the public interest. (free movement) visa
