
RIYADH :As part of its ongoing programme to recognize the contributions made by Sri Lankan migrant workers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ameer Ajwad, felicitated Mr. Fareed Mohamed Hilurdeen, who has served for 27 years at the Mandarin Oriental Al Faisaliah in Riyadh, by presenting him with a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of his long and dedicated service to both his home and host countries.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Ameer Ajwad underscored that Sri Lankan migrant workers in Saudi Arabia constitute a vital pillar of the strong bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia, and that this programme was introduced to recognize their meaningful services to both nations. He further stated that Mr. Hilurdeen has been an integral part of the Sri Lankan migrant worker community in the Kingdom, symbolizing the dedication and professionalism of Sri Lankan expatriates.
The ceremony forms part of the Embassy’s ongoing initiative, launched in July 2024, to recognize senior Sri Lankan migrant workers who have rendered exceptional service to both the sending and receiving countries over the decades. To date, eight individuals from diverse professional backgrounds, who have left the Kingdom for good, have been recognized under this programme.
The ceremony was attended by the spouse of Mr. Hilurdeen and prominent members of the Sri Lankan community, Mr. Samath Pakeer, Assistant Director of Commercial, VOCO Hotel, Riyadh and Senior Sri Lankan Citizen, Mr. Arif Sadiyan.
Minister/Head of Chancery Mr. Mohamed Anas, Counsellor (Employment & Welfare) Mr. Mangala Randeniya, First Secretary (Trade) Ms. Tashma Vithanawasam, Third Secretary (Employment & Welfare) Mr. Sandun Nishantha, and Attaché/Administration Ms. Udani Thilakarathne were also present at the event.
