


COLOMBO – St. john’s College took on their traditional rivals St Mathew’s College Dematagoda, in their 50th annual Neela Haritha at the Wesley College grounds on Sunday 4th May .
In a game reduced to 43 overs per team, St Mathew’s College beat St. john’s College by 7 runs in an evenly contested match.
SJC won the toss and elected to field and restricted to a total of 138. In reply to this total SJC batted well at one stage were 73 for 3 in 13 overs, then resulted in fall of wickets at regular intervals and all out for 131 in 32 overs.
Mohamed Fahim Captain of SMC was adjudged the player of the match scoring 59 runs and captured 3 wickets for just 15 runs.
Mr Ibrahim Nawfer, of Maliban Textiles was the Chief Guest , and Principals of SJC Mr S vadivel and Mrs.Chulani Hettiarachchi , gave away the prizes to both teams.
