SINGAPORE : A Sri Lankan maid,40, working in Singapore died on Thursday following a fall
off the 8th floor of a housing complex.
The deceased a resident of Dankotuwa had reportedly informed her friends that she was facing various harassments at the hands of owner of the
house. She had told them that she requested them to send her back to Sri Lanka but she did not receive a positive reply from the sponsor.
The post mortem was conducted in Singapore on the same day her remains are to be brought to Colombo on Friday, May 20.
Meanwhile Foreign Ministry while confirming the death on Thursday said that Singapore authorities are still conducting investigations. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Priyanga Wickremesinghe said that no conclusion has reached regarding the cause of the death.
She said that she has fallen from the housing apartment and Sri Lankan mission is in touch with the Singapore authorities investigating her death
