COLOMBO : A group of 10 Sri Lankan pilgrims are slated to leave the island on Monday evening,June 19 by Ettihad Airlines via Abu Dhabi under the ‘ Guests of Allah ‘ programme of the Saudi government .
Coordinator of the group, Abdul Razack Mohamed Rizwan,42, who is a teacher attached to Aligarh Maha Vidyalaya in Eravur told Colombo Times that he is thankful to Allah and then to Saudi government and its embassy in Colombo for their magnanimity in making his maiden pilgrimage a reality. “ Most of the pilgrims in the group are first-timers,” he said,explains that the full cost of the government is borne by the Saudi government .
A total of 3,500 pilgrims from Colombo will perform Hajj this year
