COLOMBO — Zahira College Islamic Society has organized annual Meelad un Nabi Day and Prize Giving Ceremony was held at the N.D.H. Abdul Ghaffoor Hall on Saturday October 18. It was held under the patronage of Principal of the College Trizviiy Marikkar.
Meelad un Nabi Day Committee Chairman Shakeer Shafeek delivered the welcome address.
Ministry of Education Muslim Schools Development Branch Director of Education Major N.T. Nasumutheen was present as chief guest and All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama General Secretary Ash Sheik Arkam Nooramith was the guest speaker.
Over 55 schools took part in the Meelad Day Completion in various subjects such as Quirath, Qaseedha, Essay, Speech, Debate, Calligraphy, Quiz and Presentation.
Fathima Muslim Ladies College Colombo 12 was crowned the overall champion of the inter school competitions.
President of the Fathima Muslim Ladies College Muslim Majlis Fathima Hanoof received the champion award from chief guest Ministry of Education Muslim Schools Development Branch Director of Education Major N.T. Nasumutheen.
Zahira College and Muslim Ladies College students presented Qaseedha and Group Songs at this ceremony.
Principal of the College Trizviiy Marikka presented a token of appreciation to the chief guest and guest speaker at this ceremony.
Zahira College Old Boys Association President Hazik Jaleel, Deputy Principals Mohamed Sazuli, Vice Principals Ms. Zeenath Ismail and A. M. Mihilar, Islamic Society Master in charge Inham Ismail, Members of Board of Governors, old boys, teachers, parents and students were also present.
Secretary of the Islamic Society Fadhil Irshan proposed the vote of thanks.
