COLOMBO — The Past Prefects’ Association of Zahira College, Colombo organized “ Zahira Super Sixteen Soccer 7’s “ tournament 2022 for the 16th consecutive year at Race Course Grounds Colombo recently and Zahira College beat Darussalaam College in the final.
Al – Hikma College, Alethea International School, Darussalaam College, De Mazenod College, D.S. Senanayake College, Gateway College , Hindu College, Isipathana College, Lyceum International School, Maris Stella College, Royal College, St. Thomas’ College, St. Benedict’s College, St. Joseph’s College, Wesley College and Zahira College Colombo were participated at this tournament.
Chief Guest Main Sponsor of the tournament Strategies Nolimit Head of Marketing and Business Raneez Sheriff presented champion trophy to winning team captain M.H.M. Hafeel of Zahira College, Colombo.
PPA President Zaniffer Rameez , Project Chairman Ahsan Munaf were presented certificates and gold medals to the winners of the tournament.
B.M.M. Zuhaib Darussalam College received the Most Valuable Player award and M. Shahil Zahira College received most outstanding Players Award, and Player of the Final M.H.M. Hafeel Zahira College received award at this tournament.
The Old Boys’ Association of Zahira College, Colombo is busy organizing the annual ‘ Sports Extravaganza ’ which is a series of sporting events in line with its Annual Fellowship Day Programme.
The Badminton event took place on the 24th of Sep at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium while the Bowling at the Excel World Bowling Alley on the 25th of September respectively.
Add glamour to the sports Go Karting event that was held at Port City on 1st October .
All other events Cricket, Football , Rugby, Hockey, Swimming , Table Tennis , Rifle Shooting, 8 Ball Pool, Do You Know Contest will be slated on the 2nd of October on the College grounds.
There are nearly 40 affiliated Groups and Batches from the 1960s era to the recently left old boys of 2020 who will be battling it out for the coveted “ President Shield ”.
President of the Old Boys’ Association Alavi Mukthar, Secretary Nuzri Munsoor along with Project Chairman Azhar Salahudeen and the Executive Committee of the Association are making elaborate arrangements for the grand finale on the 2nd of October.
The closing day will be graced by Omar Kamil,former Mayor of Colombo and Former Ambassador of Iran as Chief Guest, along with the Chairman of the BOG Fouzul Hameed, Principal Trizviey Marrikar and distinguished old boys P. Balasingham, Consultant,Sunday Times and Mohammed Rasooldeen, Chief Editor Colombo Times and Sri Lanka Correspondent for Arab News as special guests.
