RIYADH – Heart Surgery is generally regarded as having begun on September 10, 1896 when LUDWIG REHN structured a Myocardial Laceration successfully.The advancement of cardiac surgery and cardiopulmonary bypass techniques have greatly reduced mortality rates of these procedures for instance, repairs of congenital heart defects are currently estimated to have only 4 to 10%mortality rates. The advancement it has gone through is amazing! In mid-July when I walked into Dr. Syed Salman Ali’s consulting office at the Specialized Medical Center in Riyadh I shared with him of the new symptoms I have developed, which he instantly passed on to the cardiologist, Dr. Baha, who immediately made arrangements to do the required tests. His advice was my immediate admission to the EMERGENCY. Since my response was delayed there was an unexpected delay of nearly 48 hours. The learned doctor wasted no time in teaming up with associate Dr. Ashmeg and an excellent group of his assistants. The team was highly efficient and totally committed towards the job. I never felt a moment of discomfort. While the treatment went very well the well known insurance, BUPA, too acted in a praiseworthy manner to get the credit. Although we did not give much publicity to the surgery the news spread like wildfire all over among my dear relatives and friends. While visitors started to pour in, my son started to take care of the messages. While thanking for all these best wishes I especially express my sincere gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for providing excellent medical service for all alike.
