Women who form 52% of the population should be given their due rights- Sajith Premadasa

COLOMBO- International Women’s Day was celebrated in a grand manner by the Samagi Jana Balawegaya,SJB, under the patronage of the Opposition Leader, Sajith Premadasa at the Viharamahadevi Park in Colombo,on Wednesday, March 8.

Hundreds of women from all parts of the island were present to display their solidarity for the day.

In his speech, Premadasa said that women form 52 percent of the island’s population but their representation in parliament in only five percent, Therefore, he added that it is everyone’s duty to give them their due rights by increasing their strength at all levels of organizations and elected bodies.
