COLOMBO- Shazna Muzammil daughter of Uva Governor A.J.M. Muzammil and popular social worker Ferouza,,had successfully contested the Local Council elections in the UK by winning the seat this year for the Tattenhoe Ward.

Shazna had won the nomination from the Conservative Party. To represent the Tattenhoe Ward, The election was held for May 6. .
Shazna said she can’t explain how chuffed she is “ A majority of the Tattenhoe ward residents voted for me and I now stand as your elected councillor. My thanks go out to everyone of you.. I am truly humbled by your trust and faith in me. I will justify the confidence reposed in me.”
Shazna has obtained a MSc in Development Management from the Open University in the UK and MBA from the Cardiff Metropolitan University.Shazna, whilst working for The Open University is a community champion and volunteers with various organizations including as an Appropriate Adult with the Milton Keynes Youth Offending Team and mentor with Children Heard and Seen an organization supporting children whose parent is in prison. She is also a Community Covid Champion, NHS Responder and a volunteer vaccinator.
She believes championing community causes is the best way to support and uplift the area, whilst engaging everyone in the community to take responsibility to keep their spaces clean and green. She will also be looking at collaborative ways of helping small and large local businesses succeed beyond this pandemic.
In Sri Lanka, she was a Board Member of the Women’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce until 2018. and private secretary to her father,who was the Mayor of Colombo and was actively in supporting council agendas from 2011-2015. She was appointed Ambassador for Sri Lanka by the Women E championed women empowerment causes in SL. Entrepreneurship Day (WED) a UN affiliated organization in the US. She was a past pupil of Colombo 7 Ladies College.
