COLOMBO – The Urban Youth Sports Festival was successfully held on Wednesday November 5 at the Torrington Sports Ground, bringing together youth from various divisional youth clubs across the district.
Participating clubs included:
- Colombo Divisional Federation of Youth Clubs
- Thimbirigasyaya Divisional Federation of Youth Clubs
- Kotte Divisional Federation of Youth Clubs
- Ratmalana Divisional Federation of Youth Clubs
- Dehiwala Divisional Federation of Youth Clubs
The Colombo Divisional Youth Club emerged as the Overall Champions, while the Thimbirigasyaya Divisional Youth Club secured the Runners-Up position.
The opening session was graced by Chathuranga Abeysinghe, Deputy Minister of Industry & Entrepreneurship Development, who participated as the Chief Guest.
The prize-giving ceremony saw the presence of several dignitaries, including Parliamentarians Lakmali Hemachandra, Najith Indika, and Jagath Manuwarana, along with Colombo Municipal Councillors Kaleelur Rahuman and Mr. Shakir.
*Dr. Irshad Jabir, and *Ms. Zahra Rizmie*, Chief Coordinator of IDMJ, also joined the event alongside several government officials.
The event was sponsored by Diamond Best Foods, while the Institute of Digital Media & Journalism (IDMJ) served as the official Media Partner.
The event highlighted the energy, unity, and sportsmanship of urban youth and underscored the government’s support for youth development through sports and community engagement.
