COLOMBO (News 1st) – Continuous rainfall has been sweeping across most parts of the island over the past 24 hours, bringing sustained showers to several regions.
The prolonged downpour has already begun to impact daily life, disrupting routine activities in many areas.
The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory warning of heavy rainfall across several parts of the country.
According to the advisory, some areas in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the districts of Puttalam, Galle, and Matara, may experience rainfall exceeding 200 millimetres.
The Department further stated that certain areas in the Northern and North Central provinces, along with the districts of Trincomalee and Kurunegala, could receive around 100 millimetres of rainfall.
