KANDY:
Udunuwara Development Trust (UDT) celebrated its STAKEHOLDERS DAY” 2024 on the 27th of January. UDT had organized this event along with it’s subsidiaries Ummu Haleema Academy, Udunuwara Special Education Centre, Udunuwara Technical Education Centre, Udunuwara Healthcare Centre and the Ladies Wing.
Event was graced by Dr. Khalid Makki –
First secretary to Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Badli Hisham Adam -High Commissioner of Malaysia in Sri Lanka. Guests were escorted by the western band of Zahira College- Gampola from Muruthagahamula junction to the main entrance of the UDT premises. From the main entrance they were escorted by the band of Udunuwara Special Education Centre.
Peoceedings unfolded with the National Anthem of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. The event ended up a great success due to the tireless effort put in by the Executive Committee members of Udunuwara Development Trust which unleashes it’s services under the supervision and guidance of Alhaj.Fahmi Mahroof- proprietor of DIAMOND BEST FOODS (pvt) ltd and duly supported by Philanthropists and well wishers in the region.
Other guests included Dr.M.Z.M.Nafeel, Professor of Arabic and Islamic Studies, University of Peradeniya, Dr.N.Gaffoordeen, Head of Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies, University of Colombo, Principal, Zahira College – Colombo, Director- Harcourts International School- Colombo, religious leaders, interlectuals, leading businessmen and community leaders. The Guests also observed the activities being carried out by Udunuwara Development Trust including the Udunuwara Special Education Centre, Udunuwara Technical Education Centre, Udunuwara Healthcare Centre, UDT driving school, activities of the Ladies Wing etc. Trees were also planted in memory of the visit of His Excellencies.
The second session of the event started with the reciting of Qirath at A.H.M Mahroof Auditorium. The event was hosted by the Students of Ummu Haleema Academy. Vice President of UDT Mr.Z.A.Aarif Ahamed delivered the welcome speech. Guest speech was delivered by Dr.M.Z.M.Nafeel, Professor of Arabic and Islamic Studies, University of Peradeniya. His speech was based on the history of Udunuwara. The event was also glorified with qaseedas, speeches and songs of the students of Ummu Haleema Academy and Udunuwara Special Education Centre.
The efforts of Udunuwara Development Trust in making a visible transformation in the life of people in Udunuwara was applauded by the Guests in their speeches and they were presented with mementos to mark their visit to UDT.
