COLOMBO : Ambassador of United Arab Emirates Khaled Nasser Alameri hosted a friendly dialogue followed by a dinner to a group of journalists picked from the print and electronic media at the City of Dreams, Cinnamon Life on Wednesday, Feb. 25.
Stressing the strong bilateral relations between the UAE and Sri Lanka , the envoy
said that he is keen on developing people to people contact between the two countries . Home to some 300,000 Sri Lankan migrant workers, the ambassador said that they are contributing a lot for the development of UAE in their respective fields. “ Our bilateral trade stood at US Dollars 1.1 billion and there are 17 direct flights operating daily between the two countries,” he added . He recalled that the two countries have signed an MOU to promote Sri Lanka as a destination for Arab tourists. During the past two years , the envoy said that UAE had extradited 14 Sri Lankan criminals home as part of the defense cooperation between the two countries. “ pix by MS SALEEM
