COLOMBO — The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates Colombo Celebrated the Water Champions in Sri Lanka at the Water Awards Ceremony at the Galle Face Hotel on Wednesday December 10.
It was held under the patronage of Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates Khaled Nasser Al Ameri.
Minister of Justice and National Integration Harshana Nanayakkara was present as chief guest.
The winners received certificates in the following categories.
- Research — Winner – Palinda Madushanka Perera, Title of work – Restoring Bopaththalawa Cloud Forest for Water Security and Climate Resilience in Sri Lanka.
- Advocacy and Journalism – Winner – Madhava Boteju, Title of Work – The Kelani River Water Quality Restoration Program.
- Youth and Schools – Winner – Dr. Tanuja Ariyananda, Title of work – Empowering School Children on Climate Change Adaptation with Rainwater Harvesting Dr. Tanuja Ariyananda.
- Communities – Winner – Shaan Corea, Title of work – “Let them Bloom – Give them Water” .
The winners received awards from chief guest Minister of Justice and National Integration Harshana Nanayakkara and Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates Khaled Nasser Al Ameri at this ceremony.
Ambassadors, representatives of International Water Management Institute, Officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and embassy staff were also graced the ceremony.
