KANDY : Shabeer Ahamed, a player from Trinity College Kandy Rugby 1st XV Team, passed away on Thursday morning on June 13, at the age of 18 due to an injury sustained during a rugby match.
The Janaza will be buried after Asar prayers on Thursday at Katugastota Jumma Mosque, Kandy.
Meanwhile in a touching note to the Trinity community, the college principal had sent out a message to its members :” Dear Students, Parents, Faculty, and Staff, -It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we inform you of the tragic passing of one of our cherished students and rugby players, Mast. Shabeer Ahamed, due to multi-organ failure following severe pneumonia. Shabeer was a very pleasant child and beloved member of our school community.
This loss is deeply felt by all who knew Shabeer and we extend our heartfelt condolences to their family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. We understand that this news may be deeply affecting and encourage everyone to support one another as we navigate through this period of grief. As we come to terms with this heartbreaking news, let us lean on one another and find strength in our collective spirit of resilience. Further, let us be extra cautious of the potential for disinformation that will only undermine the spirit of sportsmanship, resilience and commitment of Shabeer and all Trinitians.
