COLOMBO: Trade Unions have declared a protest week from 6th May to 13th May, with a trade union convention being held on 11th May.
The Trade Union Coordinating Center made a statement at a media briefing convened Saturday May 7 regarding the future course of their decisions, and emphasized that the working class of the country is preparing to obtain the solution being demanded by the people of the country.
Wasantha Samarasinghe, the co-convener of the Trade Union Coordinating Center stated that the Government imposed the State of Emergency to suppress the struggles of the people.
Demanding to immediately lift the State of Emergency, the trade unions stated that when Parliament convenes on 17th May, the trade unions and general public will come near the Parliament to seek a solution, and will not leave without one.
