


COLOMBO : Indian EAM Dr. S. Jaishankar met with leaders and MPs representing the Malaiyaham, recent Indian-origin community, at India House on Tuesday, Dec.23
Speaking to the media, TPA leader Mano Ganesan MP stated that they expressed gratitude to the Indian EAM for announcing the USD 450 million aid package for Sri Lanka.
He further explained the devastation faced by plantation residents and emphasized their need for “safe land.” Ganesan mentioned that President Dissanayake had promised to provide safe land plots for housing purposes. He requested Dr. Jaishankar to extend the ongoing Indian housing program to construct houses on these safe land plots provided by the GoSL.
Ganesan also conveyed appreciation for India’s support in rebuilding highway and railway infrastructure damaged by the Ditwa disaster.
