COLOMBO — PUREST tea from Sri Lanka was the provider of authentic Ceylon Tea for the traditional Tarik beverage at the Malaysian Culinary Festival, on September 7th and 8th, 2024, held at the Galle Face Hotel in Sri Lanka. The Signature Teh Tarik station was the focal point delighting dozens of guests with multiple rounds of the beverage. The station was managed by a team of skilled Malaysian chefs flown in specifically for the occasion.
The event, organized by the Malaysian High Commission in Sri Lanka, was graced by the presence of Malaysian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Badli Hisham Adam and Madam Zalinah Mohd Yusof.
Ms. Indunil Liyanage, Tea Taster and career food and beverages professional from Tea Legacy Pvt Ltd, expressed her gratitude stating “I would like to thank the High Commission for giving PUREST Tea brand the opportunity provide tea for this event and for having experienced Malaysians prepare the traditional Teh Tarik. As a Sri Lankan, it was a wonderful experience to enjoy authentic Malay cuisine prepared by Malaysian chefs, all under one roof. I am delighted that we could be part of this celebration of rich Asian culture.”
The festival attracted members of the Malay and Malaysian communities in Sri Lanka, including staff from the High Commission, business people, expatriates and Sri Lankans.
Kushan Atapattu, Vice President of the Sri Lanka Malaysia-Business Council, remarked, “The Teh Tarik was exemplary this evening, bringing back memories of the rich food culture experienced during the SLMBC’s business delegation to Kuala Lumpur. I am thrilled to attend this festival, which underscores the close cultural ties between our nations—a crucial foundation for successful business and trade relations.”
PUREST showcased a range of herbal-infused tea blends, prepared from the select premium lots and produced to export standards. The premium tea was presented in biodegradable Tea Pyramids, packed in individual sachets, and manufactured by Tea Legacy Pvt Ltd. The company is an exporter and a producer in Sri Lanka, proudly promoting Ceylon (Sri Lanka) Tea in the niche’ and high value-added segment in the international markets.
