



COLOMBO :: The first two winners at the the Holy Quran memorization competition received Rs one million each on Monday Jan 12 held in Colombo
Yasser Alhazme, Charge de affaires of the mission in Colombo. hosted the closing ceremony of the third edition of the Holy Quran memorization competition in the Republic of Sri Lanka, at the ITC Hotel Colombo on 12th January 2026, in the presence of Hon. Muneer Mulaffer, Deputy Minister of Religious and Culture Affairs, as the guest of honor.
Mulaffer thanked the Saudi government for donating $6 million to repair the roads affected by the recent cyclone. He said around 2,000 male and female students took part in the event.
Deputy Speaker Dr Rizvi Sheriff, a number of Ministers, Members of Parliament, and Heads of Diplomatic Missions accredited to the Republic of Sri Lanka were present . During the ceremony, the winning students, numbering 24 male and female students, were honored.
