COLOMBO : CSHR calls for new applications for multi-disciplinary courses for the year 2021
The Centre for the Study of Human Rights (CSHR) attached to the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo is a centre of excellence for human rights education and research using a multidisciplinary approach. Its mandate is to conduct and facilitate human rights education and research programmes for the university community and the community at large.Its activities are multi-disciplinary in nature.
The CSHR has two wings. Planning and implementing human right based projects with the collaboration of national and international organizations is one and conducting training and human rights education and research programs is another. An important outcome of human rights education is empowerment, a process through which people and communities increase their control of their own lives and the decisions that affect them.
The ultimate goal of human rights education is people working together to bring about human rights, justice, and dignity for all. CSHR sets a remarkable standard in the human rights education in Sri Lanka throughout its 30 years of journey. Following reasons determined the accreditation and high standard of the Centre: • The lectures conducted by high caliber of academicians. • Programs coordinated by renowned professionals. • Immense support in terms of drafting manuals and designing course guides provided by the pool of expertise from the Faculty of Law in specific and the University of Colombo overall.

The CSHR focuses to eliminate disparity and inculcate respect for diversity by offering multi-disciplinary courses in Sinhala, Tamil and English trilingual targeting almost all the people. The courses could be followed even by the students with GCE Advanced Level and/or GCE Ordinary Level qualifications. Experience in the relevant field related to the chosen coursework will be an added advantage to follow the programs at CSHR.
Beginning from a certificate level course could lead to pursuing a masters degree in the field of human rights. Why you have to choose CSHR? 1. Lectures in Sinhala, Tamil and English. 2.
