COLOMBO: The Teachers’ Trade Unions warn the Government repeat action if the government fails to resolve the teachers – principal’s salary anomalies before January 20.
Speaking during a press conference held on Wednesday, December, 22 the Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers’ Union, Joseph Stalin said that an official circular must be issued by the Government for resolving the salary anomaly issue as Rs. 30 Billion has been allocated from the budget to remove the teachers – principals salary anomalies.
Emphasizing that all teachers and principles trade unions have unanimously said that it needs to be implemented before the 20th of January 2022, Starlin said that the anomaly resolver must come along with the salary.
Starlin also stated that the trade decision taken by the Cabinet has not been implemented by the Education Ministry, and said that if the Government approved this through the budget, the education ministry has a responsibility to implement it.
“The education ministry has not presented gazettes regarding the teachers – principles services being converted to an inclusive service as well. The budget was approved on the 10th of December. Nothing has been done regarding the circular by the ministry. We are on a clear decision that if the government does not fulfill their promise of giving us the salary by the 20th we will take decisions regarding examinations and other things as well,” he added.
