COLOMBO : The MEI Foundation (motivation, encouragement, inspiration), an NGO based in Sri Lanka, conducted an awareness talk on Sunday, May 26th, for students entering into their A’Level examination phase.
This was held at the Puttalam Royal Academy of Science which is run by the Director Dr. Hifraz Inayathullah.
The talk, entitled: ” *Beyond the Books : Mental & Physical Prep for Exam Excellence*,” was delivered by the MEI Foundation’s medical coordinator- Mohamed Juraij Mohamed Nawshad. It addressed the importance of students taking care of their mental and physical health, especially during this pivotal studying era of their lives.
Interesting tips for stress busting, nutritional advice, and sleep hygiene were emphasized on. Other pathological causes of fatigue that are common amongst adolescent and adult age groups were also introduced. From a mental health perspective, students were encouraged to uphold positivity and to never feel restricted to reach out for help.
_Beyond the Books_ received a good reach amongst the attendees, who also shared that they greatly benefitted from the information delivered by Juraij.
MEI urges community members to pay heed to the wellness and well-being of children at their home, especially during stressful times like exams. They add that _It sometimes takes only a glass of water, a goodnight’s sleep, and a positive word to get back on your tracks._
In their ongoing efforts of raising awareness, MEI wishes to touch base on more topics and bring meaningful conversations through such talks to different settings across Sri Lanka.
