NEGOMBO : State minister Susil Premjayantha who is reported to have scked by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa told media that his dismissal will not have any impact on his life and he would resume his practices in the courts from Wednesday.
Talking to the press on Tuesday, January 4, the former stae minister said that he has not got any letters regarding the dismissal, however, he accepts the confirmation from the media about his dismissal from his post due to his recent comments at a Fair on Sunday.
Jayantha said that he was making the comments on behalf of the people who are suffering due to the sudden hike in consumer items.” I am a person who joined politics from 1991 and had worked under three presidents and had held ministerial portfolios,” he said, he made the comments because of the current trend in the economic policies of the government. “We don’t know which direction is the country going.” he stressed.
Concerned over the sacking of Jayanth from his portfolio, form President Maithripala Sirisena said that sacking Premajayantha is not the solution to the existing problems in the country.
Sirisena said Premajayantha had only responded to a question that was asked by the media while he was at the market.
The former President said that the Government will not be able to prevent the forthcoming events of 2022 by just sacking one minister.
He said the Government can only prevent such similar events if it understands the sufferings of the people and take remedial measures to resolve them amicably. .
