COLOMBO: The Supreme Court instructed the concerned authorities on Friday to give the required medical attention to former Governor and National Unity Alliance Azath Salley who is currently warded in the hospital while in police custody.
Salley underwent a coronary angiogram on Wednesday evening at the hospital.
The court also gave the instructions to the police when the fundamental rights case against Salley’s arrest was taken up on Friday.
The court postponed the hearing for June 2 and instructed the CID to submit its report on its investigation on June 2.
Salley was arrested by the criminal investigation department on March,19, under the Prevention and Terrorism Act and was admitted to a hospital in Colombo due to ill-health.
His wife filed a fundamental rights petition in the Supreme Court challenging the arrest on April 6.
On Friday, Salley was admitted to the hospital on complaints of a suspected heart attack.
